huzzah!

Bloggin' from Williamsburg and what a delight it is. We are "here and now" at Isabel's insistence. A short walk in any direction reveals evidence of her wrath. They were apparently hard-hit down here, which is how we ended up visiting this particular week. First Isabel chased us out of our Myrtle Beach plans and back to the safety of Virginia; that safety quickly withered at the fierce hand of Isabel and we were pressed to delay our visit. Yesterday's news is an ongoing current event here.

Colonial history prevails in spite of a hurricane, though, and the fortitude of our founding fathers (and mothers :-)) is on display in CW. Huzzah! The weather could not be more perfect. The air is fresh and breezy and the temperature, divine! Our feet feel like hamburger, but our hearts bravely lead on in the path of many a history lover before us! Godspeed!

giving thanks

My heart is full with gratitude to God for His goodness and today, in particular, I thank Him for his provision for Ashleigh and Aaron... for giving them each other. Today they celebrate the second anniversary of their marriage vows... a day wrought by our sovereign God. Such a joy to see God's hand in their lives as His plan continues to unfold for them. Aaaah... my cup runneth over. :-)

partly dreary with a sprinkle of cozy quiet...

today's forecast cries out for a nice hot latte with a dollop of velvety foam
will shortly drown my sorrows in my java
which should effectively battle this bit of fatigue and "WTHITAF" syndrome
aaaaaaah... life is good again ;-)

postsynaptic stress syndrome

OR....
my brain is fried and i still haven't figured out the answer :-\
i am still trying to find the best way to employ a "random quote" script for MT
i do NOT have to reinvent the wheel
it's just that the wheel is a bit slick for me right now
the misfirings of my brain cells are prohibiting me
from holding on to said wheel just now
methinks it's time for a smackerel of hunny and a nap

there's got to be a morning after...

one of those 70's movie themes that gets stuck in your head (ala poseidon adventure)

so we survived... they're saying this was the storm of our generation... whatever
i thought agnes was way worse
but i was only 12 or 13 then... what do i know?

we camped out at mil's since she has a bigger house AND a basement
she ended up without power there all night and still no sign of it yet today

stepping outside this morning the first thing i noticed was the wonderful fragrance
of all those fresh-snapped green leaves and limbs
it looked like a tree-chipper truck drove by and sprewed it's output everywhere
there were numerous large limbs and even a few trees down
cable was out when i returned home this morning but is already restored (to my grateful surprise!)
we did lose less than a dozen shingles (grrrrr)
but fared well otherwise
we have power and water (and cable! yeah!) so i can only be thankful today
the river flooded just .2 miles from here and left a couple boat docks broken and washed up into yards
all of the remaining docks there were still under water this afternoon
even so, the damages are minimal all things considered

honestly, it's been a kinda fun adventure ;-)
and now let's see if hurricane kate gives isabel some friendly competition ;-)

because...
idea shamelessly stolen from diseman, although his pic is way cooler

campin' at mil's "just in case" ;-)

bagelicious

who couldn't love this sweet girlie?

sunshine and bagels!

she brought her own brand of sunshine to our dreary "isabel" morning :-)
love you, emmagirl!

more on love

to love at all is to be vulnerable.
love anything
and your heart will
certainly be wrung
and possibly broken.
if you want to be sure to keep it intact,
you must give your heart to no one.
lock it up,
safe in the coffin of your selfishness.
but in that casket,
safe, dark, motionless, airless
it will change.
it will not be broken,
but it will become
unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.
the only place outside of heaven
where you can be
safe from all the dangers of love
is hell.

java news

Maybe they just haven't had their morning coffee yet. It looks like some legislators just have too much time on their hands... they would be better put to the plow... or hammer, as the case may be.

she shoots... she SCORES!

< personal horntooting>
what's all the fuss about, you ask? WELL... < contented sigh of accomplishment>...
i finally got the upload template hacked to change the default upload path!
woohoo!
< /personal horntooting>

now i just have to remember to re-do it next time mt upgrades ;-)

and, yes, i'm sure my little accomplishment might seem silly to those who actually know what they're doing... but i have to scrape my 'puter education outta the ground so for me it's a happy moment! :-P

(cuz heaven knows I can't think of anything brilliant to say)

Tell me how much you have suffered and I will tell you how much you have loved.
