there's got to be a morning after...

one of those 70's movie themes that gets stuck in your head (ala poseidon adventure)

so we survived... they're saying this was the storm of our generation... whatever
i thought agnes was way worse
but i was only 12 or 13 then... what do i know?

we camped out at mil's since she has a bigger house AND a basement
she ended up without power there all night and still no sign of it yet today

stepping outside this morning the first thing i noticed was the wonderful fragrance
of all those fresh-snapped green leaves and limbs
it looked like a tree-chipper truck drove by and sprewed it's output everywhere
there were numerous large limbs and even a few trees down
cable was out when i returned home this morning but is already restored (to my grateful surprise!)
we did lose less than a dozen shingles (grrrrr)
but fared well otherwise
we have power and water (and cable! yeah!) so i can only be thankful today
the river flooded just .2 miles from here and left a couple boat docks broken and washed up into yards
all of the remaining docks there were still under water this afternoon
even so, the damages are minimal all things considered

honestly, it's been a kinda fun adventure ;-)
and now let's see if hurricane kate gives isabel some friendly competition ;-)
