twinkles

i don't know why... i just knew i needed a "twinkle fix"... so i "planned" a "spontaneous" metropolitan girlie adventure for the evening. we headed north to our first destination, pentagon row... as the sun began to lower, the twinkles began to make their appearance. pretty window displays of "lush and sparkle" were an eye treat, while around a corner we discovered lighted trees and stores (more twinkle!) and little ice skaters making their rounds on smooth, white ice in the center of it all. our next whim was fashion centre and at least 1,000 strings of twinkle lights with beribboned cherubs intermingled. i was chastized by mall security for taking pictures of the oversized tree and zillion twinkles (security concerns, he said). i sadly packed my camera away until we moved on to our next destination... gravelly point! multi-colored lights and watery reflections surrounded us there as planes flew up over our heads. next... south for a round of liquid warmups at starbucks. full of yummy treats and twinkle-cravings nearly satisfied, we finally headed home via old town alexandria for a final dose of holiday sparkle and were not too disappointed. we're home now and headed to bed as visions of twinkle lights dance in our heads.
