QotD: First Celebrity Crush

Who was your first celebrity crush?

I know I'm really dating myself, but I was in love with Andy Williams when I was a very little girl. I still think he's cute. ;-) And his voice... yum.

I was equally smitten with Gene Kelly. Practically perfect in every way! ;-)

QotD: This Would Be Super

If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?

You know that snapping thing that Mary Poppins did to make Jane and Michael's bedroom automagically clean itself? Um... yeah... that's the superpower I want.

If that one is unavailable, I would like the ability to clone myself twice or thrice... I'd have one of me to do the WalMart shopping and other tedious errands and another me to cook and clean. The "real me" would stay busy drawing pictures and taking photos all day... and blogging them afterward. ;-)

What method do you use to prepare your coffee or tea?

morning latte

My espresso machine gets a workout every morning (hey, at least one of us does!) and delivers a very welcome 4 shots of espresso for my daily latte. Yum!

The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.

~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., "Over the Teacups" 1891

When I take tea in the afternoon, I pour freshly boiled water over Scottish Breakfast (Taylors of Harrogate) tea leaves and let it steep 3 to 5 minutes, depending on whether I'm in the mood to have it black or with milk and sugar. Tea is a wonderful afternoon "pick me up"!

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.

~C.S. Lewis

A Proper Tea is much nicer than a Very Nearly Tea, which is one you forget about afterwards.

Who taught you how to cook?

Dinner's Ready!

My mother taught me... I first remember cooking when I was in kindergarten... scrambled eggs. I was the oldest of four sisters and we were all taught the art of cooking and were expected to assist as needed. By the time we were in middle school, my sisters and I were each responsible for making dinner once a week or so. Being a self-centered young person, I really hated that. Thankfully, my crappy attitudes didn't deter my parents from making me do it anyway!!
