Leo Laporte.... could he BE any cuter? And he's got brains, too! ;-)
*with apologies to original artist
I refuse to have favorite anything. In fact, I just came home from the library last night with two books for people who "suffer" from wildly passionate and diverse interests... Refuse to Choose!: Use All of Your Interests, Passions, and Hobbies to Create the Life and Career of Your Dreams ~and~ The Renaissance Soul:
Life Design for People with Too Many Passions to Pick Just One. BUT, I digress!
I do, indeed, have an ultimate dream house and in it I have several "favorite"; rooms. The one I have most formed in my head and "on paper" is the family room. I want a room that looks like a Blues club... I want the walls painted deep red... dark leather seating... a fat Marshall stack in the corner and guitars hung all over the place. A couple years ago I played with the idea in Photoshop and came up with this (lame, but you get the idea) rendering. Oh, and that's my (fantasy!) Gretsch White Falcon and Fender ™57 Twin amp sitting up against the wall No, I don't play, but if I had that Gretsch I'd learn in a heartbeat. :-)
My espresso machine gets a workout every morning (hey, at least one of us does!) and delivers a very welcome 4 shots of espresso for my daily latte. Yum!
The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.~Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr., "Over the Teacups" 1891
When I take tea in the afternoon, I pour freshly boiled water over Scottish Breakfast (Taylors of Harrogate) tea leaves and let it steep 3 to 5 minutes, depending on whether I'm in the mood to have it black or with milk and sugar. Tea is a wonderful afternoon "pick me up"!
You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.~C.S. Lewis
A Proper Tea is much nicer than a Very Nearly Tea, which is one you forget about afterwards.~A.A. Milne
My mother taught me... I first remember cooking when I was in kindergarten... scrambled eggs. I was the oldest of four sisters and we were all taught the art of cooking and were expected to assist as needed. By the time we were in middle school, my sisters and I were each responsible for making dinner once a week or so. Being a self-centered young person, I really hated that. Thankfully, my crappy attitudes didn't deter my parents from making me do it anyway!!
I cried when I found this under the Christmas tree. It was 1969 and I was almost 10 which, I suppose, explains my hyper-emotive reaction. ;-) I loved this album then and I still think it rocks... Vegas style, of course.
This is the Tom Jones I loved as a kid...

And here he is at a recent performance... a little dorky but he's still got it... sort of... or not so much. :-\
